According to Southern Living, three of the South's thirty best restaurants reside in Charleston. This is second only to one other city. Leon's Oyster Shop, FIG, and Husk were the three Charleston restaurants named in Southern Living's list, which affirms that Charleston is on the culinary cutting edge of Southern cuisine. The magazine specifically called out chef Ari Kolender's "crispy, spicy, fried fowl and simple, well-executed seafood offerings" such as his famous char-grilled oysters. FIG's tomato tarte tantine also gets a shoutout along with Husk's bacon-infused fried chicken and the veggie plate. Only Nashville had more locations on the list, with The Catbird Seat, Rolf & Daughters, and Little Octopus making appearances in addition to the Nashville Husk location. The editors of the list make clear that they can't recommend one Husk location over the other, as both are equally fantastic. Savannah also performed well on the list, with two locations making it: The Florence and The Grey. If you're looking for a city with great Southern eats, there's not many better than Charleston!
