“After showing property and seeing all of the natural beauty on our sea islands, people often ask me what they should do. One of my top suggestions is to take the boat tour out to Fort Sumter. You get a great boat ride with great views of the harbor, the city, and the surrounding areas, plus a fantastic history lesson. I also tell people that they should go see the Angel Oak. It is a free visit as a City of Charleston park, but you will probably be inspired to donate to keep this majestic tree safe after you see it's amazing size and beauty. It’s the largest living thing east of the Mississippi River. As far as restaurants, take your pick. Charleston is one of the best culinary cities in the world, but my all time favorite is the Charleston Grill.” - Lee Lindler

“Everyone, whether they’re local or just visiting, should take a carriage tour to learn about the history of our Holy City. Each tour is different, so you can go more than once and have a completely different experience. Another great thing to do is just take a walk throughout our fantastic city, or rent a bike through Holy Spokes, because the architecture here is hard to beat! - Ryan Weekley

“I love ACTION! So a Stingrays Hockey game or a RiverDogs baseball game are my favorite activities. Both are especially exciting on nights when you get to bring your dog into the stadium to watch with you!” - Cherie Gallagher

“One of the best things to do in Charleston is going to the beach! I love going just to walk around, and Isle of Palms is one of my favorite beaches to visit. Also, we’re big kayakers, and we like to go out on the Copahee Sound in North Mount Pleasant. A lot of the kayaking tour companies go out there because it’s too shallow for boats, so it’s nice and calm for newbie and experienced kayakers.” - Kathleen Radenbaugh

“I love the Edmondston-Alston house. It's available for tours and is on the battery. It's a great view of Fort Sumter from the second story piazza. I also enjoy sitting at Waterfront Park watching the boats and dolphins. Living in Summerville, I also love to visit Azalea Park, which is really beautiful, especially in the spring. It's site of Azalea festival first weekend in April, which is a must-see event!” - Laurie Loparo

I highly recommend visiting Captain Sam’s Spit off of Beachwalker Park out by Kiawah. It’s a great natural area to explore, especially if you want to walk one of the most remote beaches in town. It’s also a great place to go and watch the dolphins strand feed. Another fun thing to do is rent a small boat at Bohicket Marina and just explore Bohicket Creek. Pack a picnic lunch and get a cool perspective of the creek and the city that most people don’t get the chance to see. -Bob Nitkewicz

“I love attending a College of Charleston basketball game because they’re always a lot of fun! Otherwise, I love going to the rooftop of the Market Pavilion Hotel and enjoying cocktails with a view!” - Lori Claussen

“One of our favorite things to do as a family with our kids is to stop by Krispy Kreme (but only when the Hot & Fresh light is on) and then head out to Sullivan’s Island and let the kids run off all their energy at Fort Moultrie. There tend not to be huge crowds out there, so the kids get to run around as much as they want, and we get to enjoy the view of the city and the harbor.” - Todd Vance

“Coffee and Cars every 3rd Saturday at Freshfields Village is a free event for people to look at antiques, classics, exotics, concepts and any other cool cars. You can get coffee and meet interesting people. There’s also the Stono Ferry Steeplechase in August… you have to go. It’s like mini Ascot but super fun! Also a must every Saturday morning, the Johns Island Farmers Market. You’ll find great produce, the best croissants, interesting crafts, music and it’s very children & dog friendly. Great option for a late breakfast! And on bad weather days - the Terrace Theater, a retro cinema showing popular & independent films, with concessions that include beer & wine.” - Astrid McManus
