In Palm Beach County, Boca Raton boasts some of the best beaches along Florida’s Southeast Coast. In fact, they have over 2 miles of uninterrupted golden sand that welcome waves which have traveled across the Atlantic Ocean.

Each beach has its own personality, so there is one for every occasion. That includes when you just want to read a good book in solitude, the family is in town, or you’re trying to tire out your dog after a long stationary day.

Let’s find out which Boca Raton beach is perfect for you!

1. South Beach Park

  • Best All-Round Beach in Boca Raton

Boca Raton, Florida, has no shortage of fantastic beaches for your whole family. South Beach Park, however, stands out as our favorite thanks to its mix of size, beauty and family-friendly vibes.

South Beach Park spans almost 25 acres, covering a gorgeous blonde shoreline that gazes out on the glimmering Atlantic Ocean. The beach opens at sunrise, something that’s worth getting up early to experience, with memorable views from the South Beach Park Pavilion. At 9 am, lifeguards will take to their stands and stay on watch as late as 6.30 pm in the summer.

Surrounded by native tree shrubs, there’s a poignant beauty to your beach backdrop. It is one that attracts a variety of fauna and is perfect for those who love bird watching! The shrub laden dunes also make for a great view as you ride that wave to shore. If you’d prefer to cast a line rather than surf, you can enjoy some surf fishing outside of the designated swimming areas.

Along the North State Road, South Beach Park has limited paid parking and three beach access points.

2. Red Reef Park

  • Great for snorkeling

If you thought South Beach Park was large, then just wait until you wander onto the soft ivory sands of Red Reef Park. A stone’s throw from our top pick, Red Reef is the best option for snorkeling beachgoers.

At the southern end of the beach, there is a jetty that extends out into the Atlantic. It connects you to 20 artificial reefs that have created sustainable living conditions beneath the surface. As the reefs have blossomed, sea turtles, bar jacks, parrotfish and more have made a home here.

Once you’ve spotted all kinds of colorful creatures, stretch your legs on the boardwalk that runs behind the beach. The path will also connect you to several picnic locations, each equipped with barbeques, along with playgrounds for the kids.

There is parking on site, plus metered spots within a brief walk of Red Reef Park.

  • Best for Families

Whether your whole family is based in Boca Raton or the grandkids are in town for the weekend, Spanish River Park is our pick for those with younglings. The 95-acre destination is just as much a park as a beach.

Spanish River Park stretches between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. Between the two bodies of water lay a litany of adventures that span beyond the typical beach experience.

There are walking trails that guide you to both sides so you can enjoy both surf and calm kayak-friendly waters. In between are wonderful wildlife and birdwatching spots. The playground areas are large, plus plenty of picnic spots, restrooms, and pavilions.

With easy access to both sides of the barrier island, Spanish River is a great place to catch either the sunrise or sunset.

On the bottom end of town, Deerfield Beach is the epitome of a classic South Florida beach. Home to a small town of the same name, the golden sands are backed by history and charm, but it’s the certified Blue Wave beach that stands out most.

Along Deerfield Beach lie nine lifeguard towers that stand watch over swimmers, boogie-boarders, and surfers alike. Thanks to the certification, watergoers and sun-soakers can relax knowing the ocean and sand are of high quality.

Deerfield Beach also has a pier that runs out into the ocean for picturesque views. If you’re up for a game of beach volleyball, you can also enjoy some friendly competition on the courts that lie on the beach’s northern end.
