Thanksgiving is a holiday that celebrates family togetherness and the spirit of generosity. Unfortunately, not every family has the means to celebrate Thanksgiving in the way they would like to. Fortunately, there are organizations that help families in need have the Thanksgiving of their dreams every year.
It’s no secret that the people of Palm Beach County excel at being philanthropic, and charity work is one of the region’s claims to fame. One organization that’s helping underprivileged families this Thanksgiving is Boca Helping Hands, a food pantry in Boca Raton. Every year the organization distributes around 1,000 free turkeys to local residents for Thanksgiving dinner. They even give out all the proper fixings too, from gravy to stuffing. This year, the organization gave out more than 1,500 birds, with local community groups, schools, and businesses taking care of the sides. All this generosity was made possible by one anonymous donor, who contributed the $36,000 necessary for the turkeys.
