Last Wednesday, military units formed in the 19th century helped to dedicate a new flag pole at a park near downtown Charleston. The groups included the Washington Light Infantry, founded in 1807, and the Sumter Guards, dating back to 1819. The flag pole is dedicated to all veterans who have served their country.
