Things to See & Do

Tour the Wakodahatchee Wetlands

By far, one of the most popular attractions in Delray is the Wakodahatchee Wetlands (say this 3 times fast!). It contains over 50 acres of trails, animal life, and wetlands right in the middle of the city. It’s an urban oasis that’s a favorite of locals and tourists alike. Best of all, it’s a great way to explore the local flora and fauna of Florida without having to hire a tour guide!

Get Your Zen on at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

The Morikami Museum and Gardens is a 16-acre Japanese oasis located right in the midst of Delray Beach. You can visit anytime to learn more about Japanese history, heritage, and culture at the museum, or take a tour of gardens, which ooze serenity and harmony. Plus, the center puts on a number of Japanese cultural events throughout the year, so there’s always something new to discover! Pro tip: stop by the Cornell Cafe on your visit, which serves Japanese-influenced cuisine, like boba tea and soba noodles.

Jam Out at the Arts Garage

The Arts Garage is Delray’s art & music venue that features visual and performing artists and experiences--everything from Grammy award-winning musicians to up-and-coming local artists--and a vibrant events calendar throughout the year. They also offer arts education for both adults and children, so no matter what beat you drum to, you can find a class that fits your niche (yes, drumming included).

Sun Basking at the Beach

Of course one of the most popular things to do in Delray--as with much of South Florida--is to hit up the beach! The sprawling Delray public beach stretches 2 miles of white sand, with calm cerulean waters, and plenty of sunshine. The beach is always popular with families because of the calm waters, lifeguard stations, picnic areas, and children’s playground. Just don’t forget the sunscreen before you dive in!

Family Fun at the Pineapple Grove Arts District

Pineapple Grove is Delray’s popular and bustling arts district, featuring a number of local artists, murals, shops, restaurants, and local businesses. The district takes up about 2 quaint streets and is a nice way to spend a little time between activities. Bring a camera, as you’ll definitely want to get a picture under the iconic Pineapple archway!

Where to Eat & Drink

Grab a Spot on the Patio at Dada

Dada has over 1,100 reviews on Yelp and is rocking a 4-star average, and for good reason! The restaurant opened in 2000 in one of the oldest houses in Delray--the Tarrimore House, built in 1924--and features a gorgeous outdoor patio and eclectic and artsy interior. Some of our favorite dishes are the Watermelon Steak Salad, the Butternut Squash Ravioli, and the Crab Cakes. Every dish pairs wonderfully with one of their house mojitos.

Mexican & Margaritas at El Camino

El Camino is a super casual Mexican soul food restaurant and tequila bar known for its killer happy hour and just plain delicious food. They make pretty much everything in-house, and you can really taste the difference in every bite. In addition to classic Mexican dishes, they also have a number of inventive twists, like the swiss chard and hongos quesadilla, and smoked brisket nachos. It’s great for lunch, but if you’re stopping by for dinner we recommend making a reservation because they get very busy!

Get Saucy at the Saltwater Brewery

Delray has no shortage of breweries and craft beer spots, but one of the best is definitely Saltwater Brewery! They offer a wide variety of brews and styles, and everything--from their Sea Cow Milk Stout to the Screamin’ Reels IPA--is a winner! The brewery itself offers lots of outdoor seating and has a fun nautical theme that lends itself well to drinking near the beach. They also do lots of events throughout the week, so be sure to give it a shot!

Beach Snacks at Bears Food Shack

From the outside, Bears Food Shack looks like any other beach shack, but inside you’ll find a plethora of delicious and good-for-you food like acai bowls, poke, fresh breads, and pastries, and a killer breakfast menu. This is the kind of place where everyone can find something on the menu that appeals to them, and each dish is flavorful, made from scratch, and prepared with the best quality ingredients. Think of it as your own private tropical oasis.
